Mark
W. Hollmann, M.D.
As a college basketball player, Dr. Mark Hollmann learned the value of
training that allowed athletes to perform at their peak. During
rotations in medical school, it was obvious that orthopaedics would be
the specialty for him.
Dr. Hollmann’s
skills and abilities as an orthopaedic surgeon have provided the avenue
for him to combine his career with his love of sports and athletics.
In the 1996 Olympics, Dr. Hollmann was selected as one of the two
physicians to care for the men and women’s basketball teams. He also
spent a year as assistant to the team physician for the Orlando Magic.
On a local level, he is team physician for
Stetson
University basketball, and DeLand,
Deltona, Pine Ridge, and Taylor High Schools.
Dr. Hollmann
completed a Knee Fellowship and is now performing many Total Hip and
Knee Replacements weekly. He also trained in Sweden and Atlanta
to become the only physician in Central Florida
performing two types of cartilage transplant surgery. He has recently
been trained in meniscal transplant surgery allowing Dr. Hollmann to
remain on the forefront of sports medicine and arthritis treatment
The allure of a
small historic community with big city conveniences brought Dr. Hollmann
and his family to West Volusia
County. He and his wife
are involved in many community service organizations and are happy
raising their three small children in a small town atmosphere.
