Royce
E. Hood, Jr., M.D.
The desire
to find a career that would have quick positive feedback is what
motivated Royce Hood to become an orthopedist doctor. He was inspired by
a family friend, who was a general surgeon in the small town of
Palatka
where Dr. Hood grew up. The surgeon served as his mentor and provided
the motivation for his success.
Dr. Hood
embraced the fact that orthopaedic problems were resolved in a
relatively rapid fashion with a high degree of patient satisfaction,
utilizing a wide variety of procedures. There is no boredom in Dr.
Hood's orthopaedic practice, where he is known for his wit and his
concern for his patients.
Drs. Griffin
and Huster recruited Dr. Hood to DeLand in 1975. The three had studied
together at Emory
Medical
School and
Grady
Hospital in
Atlanta. He states that he has now adjusted to
the big city lifestyle of DeLand, but it still has the same small town
feeling of Palatka.
