In 1975 he moved to DeLand and established his orthopaedic practice with Doctors Huster and Griffin.
Dr. Hood's practice consists of treating many different orthopaedic conditions, including: sprains, fractures, back and neck disorders, knee and shoulder injuries, and osteoarthritic conditions requiring total joint replacement. He has developed a special interest in the hip and has performed hundreds of hip surgeries, including fracture repair and total joint replacement. Dr. Hood is Board Certified in orthopaedics and has been a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons since 1975.
Dr. Hood is committed to the Christian life and its influence on the healing and well-being of his patients. He has integrated his faith in his practice by pursuing professional competency, adhering to high ethical standards, and by showing concern and compassion toward his patients. He is known for his wit and genuine interest in the overall patient, thus establishing many longtime patient/doctor relationships and earning him the reputation for being the doctor's doctor in DeLand. He is married to Mary Lane Hood, a nurse anesthetist, who works with him in the operating room. Together they have four grown children.
