Meet Our Doctors

Richard H. Huster, M.D.

Richard H. Huster, M.D.

An initial interest in science led Richard Huster to Duke University, where he majored in chemistry. A neighbor in Jacksonville, where he grew up, had two older sons attending medical school; their inspiration encouraged him to pursue medical profession.

Dr. Huster, who was the first orthopaedic surgeon in West Volusia, was drawn to DeLand because of its smaller size and being a college town. He was joined by two friends and colleagues from residency in Atlanta, Dr. Griffin (retired) and Dr. Hood. Dr. Huster is a past president of the Volusia County Medical Society, and is a current board member and treasurer of Volusia Emergency Medical Foundation (EVAC). He and his wife have 6 children and have enjoyed being a part of the West Volusia community for 30 years.
