Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R)

Dr. Waldbaum is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine and Pain Medicine. He focuses on the nonoperative management of back and neck injuries. His treatment plans are designed to help patients improve function and mobility.

Electromyography and Nerve Conduction Studies

If your physician suspects that your condition is a result of decreased nerve function, he/she may order an Electromyography (EMG) and/or nerve conduction study (NCS) to examine the integrity and functionality of your nerves.

An EMG involves testing the electrical activity of muscles. Often, electromyography (EMG) testing is performed with another test that measures the conducting function of nerves or nerve conduction study (NCS). The studies may the diagnosis of nerve compression or injury (i.e. carpal tunnel syndrome), nerve root injury (example: sciatica or radiculopathy of the back or neck), and other problems of the muscles or nerves.

Orthopaedic Injections

Orthopaedic injections are utilized to deliver medication to a specific area of the body to assist in reducing or eliminating pain caused by inflammation. Injections may not completely eliminate pain symptoms but may reduce pain and facility return to an active and comfortable life. These injections may include Anti-inflammatory, steroid, platelet rich plasma (PRP), and visco-supplementation (Hyaluronic acid).
