Every year from October 6-12, we celebrate National PA Week, which recognizes the physician assistant profession and its contributions to the nation’s health. Florida Orthopaedic Associates has six Certified Physician Assistants (PA-C) on staff.

Our physician assistants are trained, skilled healthcare professionals who work in the operating rooms alongside of our board-certified orthopaedic surgeons.

They perform histories and examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests and prescribe medications and therapy. In addition to first assisting at surgery, they perform wound closures and debridement, injection of joints, and fracture management.

In the hospital, physician assistants conduct post-op rounds, write orders, take call and perform admission and discharge work.

Unfortunately, physician assistants don’t always get the recognition they deserve. Please join us in thanking our extraordinary physician assistants for all they do to support our patients and their families.
